People STYLE WATCH - On The News Stands Now!
By Jennifer J. Dickinson
It’s that time of year again when we all get Spring Fever and are ready to shed the Winter duds for the vibrant colors and breezier fabrics.
For those who are thinking Spring (I sure am having dealt with the polar temperatures in the Northeast this season), it’s time to grab a copy of People Style Watch at the check out counters and on the news stands until March 23.
I always love checking the season’s fashion trends in clothing, accessories and makeup. My absolute favorite section is where they show readers how to create the fashion looks the stars are wearing, but for much less. Sometimes I even like the alternatives that People has chosen even better than what the stars have chosen themselves. They do something similar with makeup as well.
It looks like anything goes this season with fashion and there’s lots of bright color ranging from pastels to neon (back again? blech, something that I think should have been left in the 80’s). I do like the cool colors that they are promoting - what are described as the “lagoon blues” - gorgeous “aquatic colors” as well as the beiges, which look really classy and can really suit any person’s coloring. It does make sense that one of the major eye trends this spring will be the blue, teal and aqua shadows, liners and even mascara - another kickback from the 80’s (as long as they don’t revive the neon pink and yellow mascaras again to accompany the fashions, we’re partially OK). Oh, and red lipstick and black liner are both back and very retro glam - one of my personal favorite combos because of the hints of Marilyn Monroe within it.
The hobo bags they showed were adorable, and I love The Limited “Refined Safari” look. They even offer an opportunity to bring the magazine or shop online using the code in the magazine for DKNY, The Limited, Benetton and Pink Mascara (thankfully just the name of the boutique - hopefully they don’t take the trend from the 80’s that I referenced above so literally).
Another bonus, is a chance to win some items showcased in the People Style Watch. This can be done online on the People StyleWatch Steals Website.
To the other extreme, prints seem to be in - whether it’s the Native American/Mexican/African ones that they’re showing (some pieces are really nice and other seem fairly overdone), and the mini-floral looks are back - some look cute but other prints shown are too Little House on the Prairie run and fall down the hill calico for my liking. I’m also not one for the so-high heels that one could actually fall forward wearing them. I’ve shown a pair below by Sergio Rossi, which are featured in Style Watch, made of real Python in Italy and retailing for $1,780. A little over the top for my personal tastes, but of course, someone out there loves this style - in this case they are in - go grab a pair and enjoy them!
